TIR GOFAL
Tir Gofal is the all-Wales agri-environment scheme
delivered on behalf of the Welsh Assembly by the Countryside
Council for Wales (CCW). At Cannon Farm we have opted to provide
educational access as part of our contribution to the scheme and
have put together a number of packages tailored to different age
groups. Please use the links below to find the package suitable

OPEN FARM VISITS
Cannon Farm was one of the first farms to sign up
with Tir Gofal and entered the scheme in August 2000. Since then
the farm has undergone a programme of capital works and habitat
management to conserve and improve the biodiversity of the farm.
The work has included hedge planting, fencing, dry stone walling
and creating streamside corridors to help water voles and otters.
Some of the Welsh Black cattle are now wintered indoors, saving
sensitive heath and marshlands from damage. Furthermore, improved
grassland has been converted back to semi-improved grassland and
the number of sheep has been reduced to help the grazing.
Wherever possible we have used local suppliers and
contractors.
Cannon Farm won the coveted producer of the year
award at the Soil Association/You Magazine Organic Food Awards
2001 thus proving that it is possible to produce the best products
whilst farming in an environmentally sensitive manner.
